Welcome to
The Sporting Gentlemen exhibition

The old tack and gun rooms of the Country Lodge, stored with leather saddles, whips and boots. The walls decorated with mounted trophies, the record perch, the proud fourteen point stag, the trusty split cane rod leaning in the corner. Mixed with the smell of saddle soap, cigars and whisky; the boasts of sporting endeavour in the field and on the riverbank. The long bet on an outsider that comes through, the celebration with the passing around of the stirrup cup. A time gone by when such pursuits were an important part of the life of a gentleman.

Quality and craftsmanship were at their best in the Victorian and Edwardian periods, and it is from this era that we draw inspiration for our exhibition. A fine selection of sporting equipment, trophies, leather goods, memorabilia and artwork from this golden age will be on show and for sale in our Country Lodge.
